And yet another meetup, hard on the heels of the last (which was jolly good fun).

elpenguin is organising dinner at Tatra in Shepherd's Bush, this Tuesday (12 May) at 7pm. He says: "Be there or be distinctly unsatisfied by delicious Polish food. Vegetarians are not well catered for, expect to eat very good meat. With delicious vodka."

Please come! And please comment if you're coming, so we can book.

We're meeting beforehand in the Shepherd and Flock, 84 Goldhawk Road, W12 8HA (BITE, FAP). I should be there by around 6pm.

Update: I won't be coming along to dinner after all, but it's still going ahead... elpenguin is the one to contact.

I will be skipping it, I'm afraid — woke up feeling manky and am not improving — but as far as I know it's still going ahead, so please do report back.

I guess I'll bow out of this one, then ;) Oh, is the food walk this weekend?

Yes, sorry about that... it looks from their website that you could have something to eat, but there wouldn't be much of a choice. And yes, this Sunday!

Ah, sorry to not be joining you, but if it's the one I'm thinking of (used to be Midland Bank) they don't really do vegetarian food there. I wish they'd kept the cashpoint in the wall though, that used to be handy given the ridiculous queues you get for the ones on the green.

Are you going for a drink anywhere afterwards? Although, unfortunately, there aren't really any nice pubs around that stretch of Goldhawk Road any more either...

Oh, I don't think I knew you were vegetarian! Looking on Streetview, it does seem plausible that the building was once a bank.

Not sure if there'll be drinking afterwards... I'll probably head in early to avoid rush hour though, so if you're free for a drink beforehand we could meet up? I'll probably arrive by 6pm; not sure what your working hours are.

Re pubs, RGL suggests The Goldhawk might be OK. Have you been there?

The Goldhawk is just about passable; used to be a very nice pub up until about five or six years ago, when the management went to such painful lengths to make it trendy. Good selection of beers nowadays but it's grotesquely expensive, full of old fashioned yuppies, and the braying in there can sometimes be so loud that you'd probably get tinnitus if you stayed for the whole evening.

The Shepherd & Flock is the nicest pub along that road, small and local but surprisingly friendly (I'm not a regular, but they'll always switch on whatever I ask them for on the big screen!). Avoid Vesbar, Bush Bar & Grill and The Stinging Nettle at all costs. In contrast, The Bush Ranger and The Bush both used to be really nice pubs, but both have sadly now been transformed into monstrous alternatives.

The other option in that region "The Green" is at the other end of Pennard Road; which is my favourite local, but only really by default as there just isn't really anywhere nicer in the area. Where, by incredible coincidence, someone has invited me along to this evening whilst I've been typing this message!

If I leave work on time tomorrow then I could be down by about 6:15pm. If you're going for The Goldhawk then I'll pop in and join you for a pint?

What a thorough analysis, thank you!

We could always go for the Shepherd and Flock instead? It's even a little closer to the restaurant than the Goldhawk, I think.

Hope this isn't annoyingly short notice... but I woke up feeling manky so am going to skip dinner, and hence won't be in the pub. Hope to see you soon though — I have heard there's a Tube Walk soon!

That's no problem; I was going to go to the gym last night but got home from work too late, so that means I can do something healthy tonight instead of going to the pub!

I'm sure I'll see you soon, hope you feel better before too long.
